Text message service
We have started to use text messages to contact you about making appointments, if you wish to "opt out" of this service, please let us know.
We are currently making changes to the content of our website.
Blood Tests - When requested by a Doctor, please book an appointment with one of our trained Phlebotomists. Samples are taken in the morning only. The GP will generate a blood form for you which will be printed out by the phlebotomists in your appointment.
Child Health Surveillance/Baby Checks - Child Health Surveillance (baby checking) is carried out by appointment with the Doctors.
Childhood Immunisations - Book an appointment with one of the nurses and please remember to bring your child's red book with you when you attend. This enables us to check your child's immunisation status to our Practice records.
Family Planning - A comprehensive contraception service is provided by all of the Doctors and Nurses.
Flu Vaccinations - Flu vaccinations are provided for eligible patients annually between September-December.
Health Promotion/Chronic Disease Monitoring - It is important for patients with diabetes, asthma and heart conditions to be seen regularly so their condition can be monitored. A reminder will be sent to you when your check is due, these are generally done in your birthday month. Please book an appointment with the appropriate nurse (see staff page for details of which condition each nurse is trained to undertake).
Minor Surgery - Following consultation and agreement with the doctor, minor operations can be performed at the practice. Dr Spraggett & Dr Behura undertake a monthly clinic.
Pregnancy - As soon as you find out that you are pregnant, please come into the surgery and complete a “Maternity Booking Form” We will pass your details to the midwife who will then contact you to make your "booking appointment" and make arrangements for your antenatal care. Antenatal clinics are no longer held here at the surgery.
Pneumonia Vaccinations - Pneumonia vaccinations are offered to everybody aged 65 or over, throughout the year.
Smear Tests - All of our Practice Nurses are skilled to carry out smear tests. Please inform reception that you require a smear.
Stop Smoking (Smoking Cessation) - Please book an appointment with a Health Care Assistant, who is fully trained to offer Smoking Cessation Advice. First appointments require 30 minutes, so please inform reception.
Travel Vaccinations - Please book an appointment with the Nurse at least 8 weeks before you travel.
NHS Health Checks are offered to people aged between 40 and 74 once every five years.
After you have received your invite letter, please telephone the surgery on 01926 857331, option 4 to book your 20 minute appointment. The check will ask simple questions and take measurements such as age, sex, family history, height, weight and blood pressure. There will also be a simple blood test to measure your cholesterol level.
The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes. If there are any warning signs, then together we can do something about it. By taking early action, you can improve your health and prevent the onset of these conditions. There is good evidence for this.

If appropriate, your GP will refer you to an NHS or Private provider either through our electronic dictation software or by referral form.
We operate a Referral Support Scheme where non-urgent referrals are discussed confidentially with other GP’s at the Practice before they are sent onto the hospital. Sometimes, a more effective approach is found after clinical discussion and a long wait for hospital care can be avoided. You will be contacted after the meeting if an improved plan is developed. This process should not result in any significant delay in your referral.
NHS e-Referral Service (Choose & Book)
Following referral to a hospital or clinic through this service, you can book your own appointment online. In some cases, you’ll have more than 1 clinic or hospital to choose from.
Your booking letter will include a booking reference number and a password or access code.
If you have any questions about your referral, please speak to the Secretary on her direct line: 01926 865897.
If you are prompted to leave a message, please leave your full name and date of birth and your call will be returned.
Please remember, you need to allow time for the GP to dictate your letter and for the Secretary to type it before making your private appointment.
Ideally, if you can find out which consultant you want to see and inform the GP or Secretary so it can be addressed to the right person.
The NHS does not cover certain examinations, reports and letters. These include medicals for HGV and PSV licences, fitness for occupation, travel and sporting activities, also reports for insurance companies and holiday cancellations.
Doctors at the Practice will complete these types of forms and medicals but they will incur a private charge, and must be paid for in advance of the form being completed.
Please speak to Helena, our Insurance Clerk for advice about any forms, please telephone: 01926 857331, option 7.
Please note that medical insurers will not cover illness that has been self-referred by the patient. Insurance companies will not cover these claims unless a GP has first confirmed the need for referral.
The fees charged for this work are in line with the BMA recommendations.
Payments are received cash or cheque only.
